House of Errors — Evolving an Existing Store for Its Next Chapter

House of Errors already had a Shopify store and an established creative direction when we joined the project. Our role wasn’t to start again — it was to understand what was already there, take ownership of the existing theme and help move the store forward.

The challenge

Taking over an existing Shopify build can often be more complex than building from scratch. You need to understand another developer’s code, identify what should stay, what needs improving and how new functionality can be introduced without disrupting the existing experience.

House of Errors was also preparing for an upcoming launch, meaning the store needed to be refined, extended and ready within a defined timeframe.

What we did

We took over the existing Shopify theme and quickly became familiar with its structure, functionality and existing customisations.

From there, we worked closely with the team to introduce new features and improvements based on what they wanted the storefront to achieve.

Rather than replacing the work that was already there, we built on top of it — refining the theme, extending its capabilities and resolving development issues as they appeared.

As the launch approached, we supported the team through the final stages of development, helping make sure the storefront was prepared and ready to go live.

Beyond launch

The relationship didn’t end once the launch was complete.

We continue to work with House of Errors as their ongoing Shopify development partner, supporting the store with maintenance, improvements, fixes and new functionality as their requirements evolve.

The outcome

House of Errors gained a development partner capable of stepping into an existing Shopify project, taking ownership of the technical side and continuing to develop the store without the disruption of starting again.
